I don't really know what you're expecting to get out of this topic. The question has really been answered already. Basically, they interpret the bible differently from you. That's really all there is to it. They don't see praying before a statue as bowing before it or serving it. They just see it as a way to focus prayers or w/e. They don't take the quote of "don't bow" to literally mean you cannot bow before a statue, remember the context is being used as worshipping or serving so "don't bow" can easily be seen as metaphorical.

Also, the "don't build statues" thing is basically contradicted in the Bible anyway (in Exodus itself actually). See this quote:

Quote:

And you shall make two cherubim of gold [i.e., two gold statues of angels]; of hammered work shall you make them, on the two ends of the mercy seat. Make one cherub on the one end, and one cherub on the other end; of one piece of the mercy seat shall you make the cherubim on its two ends. The cherubim shall spread out their wings above, overshadowing the mercy seat with their wings, their faces one to another; toward the mercy seat shall the faces of the cherubim be" (Ex. 25:18–20).

Also:

Quote:

for the altar of incense made of refined gold, and its weight; also his plan for the golden chariot of the cherubim that spread their wings and covered the ark of the covenant of the Lord. All this he made clear by the writing of the hand of the Lord concerning it all, all the work to be done according to the plan" (1 Chr. 28:18–19).

and:

Quote:

On the walls round about in the inner room and [on] the nave were carved likenesses of cherubim." Ezekiel 41:17–18

I mean, God's clearly telling people here to make statues of angels, which is the likeness of something that is in heaven above. Not saying this interpretation is right or wrong, frankly I don't really care either, but that's the reason why.

Also the kissing the ring thing isn't normal I don't think. I was raised a Catholic, had Catholic schooling etc. and never even heard of that. Seems to go against how we were taught to think of priests too.

Do you want me to pick quotes from the bible and post the ones that you don't follow? Because I will gladly do so. It just might take up an entire page.

Ms...please provide me ONE quote from the bible so that GOD supported the creation of idols, (NOT FOR DECORATING) But for praying and bowing ?

If you find one....I will make a video where I will admit your superior knowledge in this and also I wont ever question the viewpoints of the roman catholic church......

You know you are already handicapped ......as Protestantism prove me wrong, as you said above, but fine ....it is not too late to prove their viewpoint wrong...

@Copy

The Cherubim quotes have nothing to do with the OP. It was not like they bowed down to them and prayed near them.

Prove me a quote from the bible so that GOD commanded ISRAEL to bow down and pray near to those cherubims......

Besides I would not have any problem with the jesus and mary statues at all......if they were there only for decorating...but they were clearly not made for this purpose.....it is evident.

The cherub quotes aren't about bowing or worshipping or anything like that. It's just to demonstrate that, in the bible, God did say to make a statue representing cherubs, which does seemingly go against the "likeness in heaven above" part. So, the only real complaint can be that they are "bowing" to statues, which I've already explained is not how Catholics see it. You can disagree with them of course, but it's really just a difference of opinion and interpretation which, imo, has no definitive "right" answer. You just see things differently.
